Kiwirail attempting to plow a route through to Christchurch from Arthur’s Pass after the snowfall on 6 June 2012 [x]
For anyone else currently snowed in:
750ml red wine
2 – 3 tbsp brown sugar
4 star anise
2 cinnamon sticks
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
The peel of 1 orange
Place in a saucepan over low heat and simmer, making sure not to boil the mixture, for 5 minutes or until fragrant (I prefer longer personally). Taste then dump as much goddamn sugar as you want in it. I prefer an extra cup or three myself cause that’s how I roll but you’re the one who’s drinking it, make it taste how you want.
Strain into warmed glasses or mugs and serve immediately. Enjoy!
